Questions & Answers

Here are some of the most common questions about how SimplyHearBetter works and how to use it safely.

How does SimplyHearBetter actually work?

The app takes live sound from your phone microphone and sends it straight to your earphones. A simple audio engine lets you gently boost speech and reduce some steady background noise. Nothing is recorded or stored.

Is this a medical hearing aid?

No. SimplyHearBetter is not a medical device, not a hearing test and not a substitute for a hearing aid fitted by a professional. It is a self-help tool only. For diagnosis or treatment you must speak with a qualified hearing-care professional.

How should I start using it?

Plug in your wired earphones or connect Bluetooth, choose a listening mode and start with very low volume on both your phone and the app. Increase slowly until speech feels clear but still comfortable. If anything sounds harsh or unpleasant, stop using the app and reduce the level.

Can I use it all day?

Long listening at high volume can damage hearing. We recommend using the app only when you need it, at the lowest comfortable level, and taking regular breaks. If you notice ringing, discomfort or pressure, stop and talk with a hearing-care professional.

Can I drive or walk in traffic with the app on?

No. Do not use the app in any situation where you must hear traffic, alarms or warning sounds clearly. This includes driving, cycling, operating machinery, crossing roads or supervising children near hazards.

What kind of earphones do I need?

Most standard wired or Bluetooth earphones that work with your phone should also work with SimplyHearBetter. For the best experience, use comfortable, well-fitting earphones that do not block you completely from outside sound.

Does the app store my conversations?

No. Audio is processed in real time to your earphones and is not kept on our servers. Standard analytics may measure how often the app is opened, but not what you say or hear.
